Product Details

Top of the Lamb yarn is an essential part of Brown Sheep Company’s story. Top of the Lamb was one of the first yarns produced by the mill in its early days. Top of the Lamb found its way into the hands of Navajo weavers in the Southwestern U.S. who used it for their intricate tapestry-style rugs. This provided an important customer base for Brown Sheep Company. This wool yarn continues to be used primarily by Navajo weavers and is found in many of the trading posts in that region. The color palette reflects the hues commonly used in Navajo style weaving. This sturdy, single ply wool yarn is also excellent for knitting and crocheting and is spun in both worsted weight and sport weight.

From sheep to skein, Brown Sheep yarns are 100% cared for, spun, and produced within the heart of the United States, providing quality American jobs throughout the supply chain. There is a lot to love about using Brown Sheep yarns in your projects!

Brown Sheep Yarns are permanently moth proofed using a non-insecticide; from their FAQ:

"We use a non-insecticide chemical called Ecolan CEA to moth-proof our wool. It is added to the dye bath at the same time as the dyes and is “permanent” in the sense that it will not wash, rub, or dry clean off the wool. The treatment works as an insect resist agent by making the wool protein unpalatable to the wool moth larvae."
